best blog award - from Ju'lia Catherine

I just wanted to dedicate a post to a blogger friend of mine, Ju'lia... we found each other on IFB and I have loved her blog from day one. Not only is this woman crafty {she sews!} but she is STUNNING as well, like model stunning... everything looks great on her.

Recently Ju'lia awarded me with the Best Blog award and I appreciate it so much... I want to give Ju'lia some love and encourage everyone who reads my blog to check out Ju'lia's blog, I really think that you all will love her to pieces!

On to the award...

In acceptance of the Best Blog award, I must reveal seven facts about myself - get ready, here they are:

• I cant swim very well... I can sort of stay afloat and doggy paddle in an emergency - but when it comes to actual swimming, yea, I cant do that.
• I am left handed, I think that means I am creative and that I need special scissors.
• My dream job would be something in the field of education, helping children with Special Needs or Hearing Impaired.
• I dont really "know" what my favorite color would be... I go through phases. Currently I love purple and coral.
• Now that I found a great thrift store, I am back to my old ways of searching the racks for treasures. I love GoodWill and individually owned shops for finding unique items that I can actually afford.
• I am planning on revising my budget soon... I am always looking for ways to save money... Id rather vacation with it than blow it on junk :)
• I seriously have a crush on my car... is it bad to love a car?

Favorite Color: Like I said before, not really sure of a all time favorite... I love to wear blacks and corals... currently I like purples too.

Favorite Song: I am in love with pretty much everything from Vampire Weekend right now.

Biggest Pet Peeve: When people try to bring others down to make themselves feel better... buh! Hate that!

When upset I: I try to be a good communicator and get it all out on the table, then I usually want to go shopping...

Favorite Pet: This is hard - definitely a tie between my first pet ever, a dog named, Peaches and my current pet the Moshi cat.

Black or White: Both, enjoy them together they are a great pair.

Biggest Fear: I think it would have to be snakes... they really scare me.

Best Feature: My kindness and love for others.

a different kind of remix... boyfriend edition

Ready... set... remix.

This remix is a little different... my honey J has always been very supportive of my blog, but lately with talks of opening stores and working harder at the blog he has become a great rock for me to bounce ideas off of and help me make "business" decisions.

While J was home he wanted to do a remix of his own and I could'nt help but squeeel!!! I played paparazzi. We let remixing be our muse.

Volcom Tee: This is one of my favorite shirts that J has... its a really deep burnt orange color and has a nice graphic print.  We got it at Nordstroms a while back but I assume that a tee like this is found many-a-place.

Fun and Games: His version of a "beachy" look should probably be disqualified since he isn't even wearing the shirt... but he is a cutie and I am proud of my baby love for being fun and wanting to have a little hand in this blog, so whatever he wants... he gets! Here, J throws on some swim trunks and brings some beach fun to our sand volley ball court... when it gets too hot to play, residents sometimes use this as a little party zone since there are picnic tables, a grilling area, and a small pool all very close by.

Sweat Sessions: Dressing nice for the gym doesn't mean getting all decked out or girls - please no full hair and make-up! However I do think that your fitness attire should be well fitting and flatter you, there are tons of mirrors in gyms and you are going to see yourself constantly... if you feel like you look your best your confidence is boosted and you will want to maintain that level and work harder towards your goals.

Chipotle Datenight: I think that its pretty much common knowledge how much J and I love Chipotle... its so yummy and for some reason when he is home with me, those burrito bowls taste even better. We spend lots of nights just watching tv or movies and snacking on Chipotle, sometimes we are in comfy PJs but sometimes its also nice to "dress up" a little for at home dates. We mix it up with a little of both but always enjoy the time spent together.

Dressy Casual: Wearing the same shirt with slightly dressier shorts gives this tee a little more pop. This is something that J would probably wear if we went on a shopping date to the mall or to go see a movie.

Bye Moshi... night out!: Once and a while we like to get out and cut a rug... I am typically a jeans and tees kind of girl when "going out" but if we go somewhere nicer than our typical spots we add a little something more to our outfits. I will wear a dress and J will throw on something like this... same shirt but now with elevated style by adding the blazer, jeans and white Hugo shoes.

So what do you think? J is not bad at the remixing (plus he isn't too bad to look at either) he may have found himself a new little project with a monthly men's remix or inspired by here. Show J some love everyone :) We would love to hear your feedback.

stay-cation with my love

As you all may know, I took a little vacation from my blog for 3 days while my sweetie was in town for a home visit. It was a bitter-sweet stay-cation because of course it was amazing to see him... however only three days, it went by so so fast.

We had a dinner date at the Cheesecake Factory, it was very yummy but the food was very rich - I got a stomach ache afterwards, I guess I am more a casual dining kind of girl - give me Chipotle and I am the happiest.

My sweetie is such a good sport - he got a pedicure with me, he even suggested that we go to get them together because he knows that I love pedicures.

Here we are just before leaving Lowe's... while my love was in town we picked out paint colors for our living room, I am going to paint as a little weekend project while he is at work so that when he comes home our place is complete... once I get the paint up and my baby is back, our house will feel like home.

This is just a simple little outfit I threw on for work last Monday, rather than go with Zoe's leopard shoes I decided to go with my oxfords since they sadly don't get much rotation in my wardrobe.

remixin' vixen - batik print dress

Ready, set, remix... its time to remix 1 item, 3 different ways.

Batik Print Dress. Target, $20 - Currently in stores now... this little green Batik printed dress caught my eye the other day. I wasn't looking to buy, I actually went in to return a top that just wasn't cutting it and there it hung, taunting me.... I am such a sucker.  But its a great little number and the price wasn't too high... plus I am on this kick where now, if it cannot be remixed - it gets returned. How is that for only buying items that truly expand my wardrobe to its fullest potential.

Waterside, at the Beach or Pool - I threw on a little white sleeveless vest/sweater that has a very delicate and open weave in the back, so even though its a cover up and technically a second layer its still very light. Perfect for having lunch at a beach cafe when the drinks are icy and you get that little sunburn chill. I also paired it with gold flip-flops since beach bound girls shouldn't  fuss with buckles, straps, or heels on their feet at the pool deck or shoreline.

Date Night with the Love Bunnie - Layering a sweater with an asymmetrical hem over this dress and belting it on the outside adds a little depth to the look. I also paired it with my favorite yellow wedges to bring out some of the lesser noticed tones in the dress and to act as "foot jewelry".  I would probably only wear simple earrings with this outfit since there is a lot of visual interest going on with the print, sweater, and shoes.

Dressy/Casual for the Office - Take this one with a grain of salt. I work in a pretty creative office, remember I had purple in my hair recently. I understand that this may not be a appropriate outfit for some offices but honestly, this is so comfy that, it could also double as a weekend look for shopping or having lunch/brunch out with friends. To make this dress a little more work safe for my office I added leggings and kept everything else pretty much neutral with gray and olive tones.

I can't believe that it's already Thursday... the week is just about over and the weekend is so close I can taste it... tastes sort of like sleeping in and pancakes.

I found this inspiration photo via pinterest, its from a fellow blogger - check out her blog here. I fell in love with what I believe to be a dress and its delicate color palette.  While my look is a little more bold in the color and its separates, I think it is still pretty delicate.  Its a soft cotton tube top that was thrifted, I think that it incorporates a similar feel as my inspiration photo - right down to the bust ruffle.

every body, every wear = YELLOW

I recently discovered this amazing little phenomenon called Every Body, Every Wear and I must say that I think its the bee's knees.  I decided that I wanted to participate because not only is it a great way to meet fellow bloggers but who doesn't love to wear yellow!

I got this skirt on the EXTREME clearance rack at NY&Co. at the end of last summer, I feel like its that perfect balance of vintage and modern and it makes me feel like a little housewife from the 50's or something.

Yellow is one of my favorite colors, I think that its the perfect color to throw on when its rainy and gloomy outside {which it has been plenty here in Tampa, I will be so happy when its sunny again} or if you are feeling a little down in the dumps - yellow will make you smile.

inspired by - just cavalli, leopard print dress

I have this thing for leopard print and recently I have a crush on all things coral... I was browsing the Internet and happened to stumble upon this leopard print dress in a coral/pink color by Just Cavalli I couldn't help but pin it on my pinterest board... however - its a little obnoxious... I love leopard print, but an all over print in such a bold color is a lot to take in.

I happened to be in Target {shocker} and while killing time saw this little leopard print dress on one of the racks... its an all over print, but its base color is off white, so its not so "in your face."  In fact, from a distance, the print is almost abstract since there are specks or coral and teal throughout.
