awkward and awesome thursday, volume 7

I dare not take a photo of myself today... It would seriously be a crime against blogging and trust me, none of you want to see my sickness or my greasy hair! Instead I give you this scientific chart followed by my awkward & awesome list.

Awkward

• Somehow I ruined a CrockPot meal... is that possible? I guess I left it on high too long, everything is funky and dry tasting.
• Being sick :( I hate feeling cruddy and I hate missing work...
• Next week is J's birthday... we wont be able to spend it together and that's really lame.

Awesome

• When I wake up in the morning and Moshi is on the pillow next to me, she yawns and then meows for me to get my butt in gear to feed her!
• I love when I am shaving my legs and Moshi jumps onto the bathtub, she hangs out between the shower curtain and the liner and tries to swat at me... its probably one of the funniest things ever.
• When I get an early morning text from J, I love feeling like I am the first thing on his mind even though we are so far apart right now.
• WAFFLES! need I say more?
• Pinterest :) possibly one of the coolest things ever... Thanks Tara for inviting me to pin, I love it! If you're reading this and also use pinterest, you can find me here... lets follow eachother :)
• Knowing that next month, I will have paid my credit cards off :) yay me! Time to start saving!

awkward and awesome thursday, volume 6

Awkward

• No outfit photo today :( I planned on it, for real... I wore a top from my recent thrifting adventure and skinny jeans, but alas, I was forced onto a vortex called my couch... I ended falling asleep listening to some program about civil war reenactments and well, I was a goner from there.
• Moshi's face in the above picture - our attempt at a family portrait before J left for work. Its silly, Moshi looks mad but it makes me laugh every time I see it.
• I was struggling at work today, trying to learn something new and it just wasn't clicking... I hate when that happens, I don't like not being able to figure things out right away.
• Missing my love, as days go by I miss him more. I thought that time would make it a little easier, but so far it hasn't... I wish that I could just hug and kiss that boy for a whole day. Hello chap-stick!
• Budgets... yuck, I hate that word... I plan on doing an extensive budget plan for myself to help me spend a lot less and hopefully save a little more. Time to be a grown up and eliminate unnecessary spending - after all its just stuff. 

Awesome

• Tampa Bay Rays Baseball - to be honest, I had no clue what was going on during the company sponsored outing yesterday, I didn't even know which was the home team {yikes} but the fact that the company I work for gave us a day to go see the game as a group was really amazing.  I have never worked somewhere that cares so much about having happy employees, its really awesome to feel valued at work.
• Sleep! Is it sad that I am looking forward to this weekend just for the fact that I can sleep in late on Saturday? I haven't been resting well with out J here, I haven't adjusted yet and I am noticing that I don't sleep as much or as well. I miss him.
• Free weekend! Yep, you read that right! I am going to buy groceries - probably tomorrow after work - and from there on, force myself to not spend a penny! I am only going to partake in activities that are free to me.  I have a feeling that will include an at home facial and pedicure, reorganizing my kitchen cupboard, maybe watching an Audrey Hepburn movie or two that I already own but have yet to view. Sounds pretty good to me!

More outfit pictures to come, promise... I will probably also have a fashion show in my bedroom this weekend and try to plan out some new outfits with the new Goodwill items I got recently, I may need some opinions and advice on what to pair with what too!

awkward and awesome thursday, volume 5

{Sweater: Target, Top: NY&Co.; Skinny Cargos: Express, Shoes: Jessica Simpson via TJMaxx}

Awkward:

• This will be this first weekend without J, and to top it off... its a 3 day holiday weekend... never thought that I would NOT be excited to get an extra day off, but work keeps me busy and its a distraction that J isn't here to come home to. Hopefully its not too bad and I find some things to keep me occupied.
• I have to take my car into the shop AGAIN... yikes! I just spent a lot to get something repaired and it seems like that wasn't enough... hopefully its covered by the warranty and I wont have to dish out any more of my hard earned moola!

Awesome: 

• My Moshi cat! Look at her in my outfit picture, just being silly and rolling over like a puppy or something! She always makes me smile.
• Coming home for lunch - I have been trying to save more and spend less... ugh, my bank account has been suffering so I am trying to get back on track... coming home for lunch has saved me some loot as well as given me the opportunity to get more done, I did the dishes and a load of laundry while I had leftovers... not too bad.
• Getting organized. I am going to try to clean out my closet this weekend and organize the stuff I really love... anything that doesn't fit or is still nice but just not what I see myself wearing, I will post on the Life and Style Shop.

awkward and awesome thursday, volume 4

New *Spring* Layout 2011

Awkward:

• Taking a break from my blog to re-center my life... things have been a fiasco, a roller coaster, honestly, the worst... 
• MRIs, need I say more... my back injury is literally a pain in my butt, well, my back.
• Having one stressful week followed by one very painful week.

Awesome:

• I revised my blog's color scheme and header, clean and fresh for Spring.
• Life is on the path to getting better and back on track... what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. I don't want to force faith on anyone reading this, so if I offend you with this statement I sincerely apologize... God will only put me through things that will make me a stronger, better, more experienced person. If I have to go through bad to appreciate the good, then that is God's plan for me and I have to accept it.
• The weekend is sooooooooo close... the weeks go by so so fast at my new job and I am less stressed out and so much happier since making my career jump! Pretty certain that I made the right choice.
• Knowing that even though I have a rough two weeks, that I still have more good than bad to write and talk about.
• Daily Outfits! I am already thinking up ideas, budgeting for weekend spending and trying to think of new ways to wear what I already own.

Awkward

• My sweetie met me at the grocery store to help me get everything and load the items in our car since I can’t lift much due to my back injury and also because I was frustrated from the time spent at WalMart {do they hide everything on purpose, or are they just that disorganized?}, so I am already there in our grocery store pushing my cart along when out of the corner of my eye I see a cutie! I never ever notice guys because I am madly in love with my boy, but here I am checking this one out and it turns out to be my sweetie! A combination of distance and my poor vision had me thinking that I was looking at another handsomely bearded fellow, while the whole time it was the sweetheart I kiss goodbye each morning before leaving for work… I guess that is actually pretty awesome, but I told him about it, and that was pretty awkward.
• My hair looking poufy in the outfit photo above.
• Being really cranky because... well, I am a girl. Ugh.

Awesome

• Absolutely loving my new job! I know that it’s only been three days, but it’s just a completely different atmosphere.  Everyone smiles.
• Enjoying a project with a really geeky Excel spreadsheet!
• Buying a big giant crockpot so that I can make lots and lots of yummy stuff.
• The skirt (pictured above) originally form Target, fits like a dream and is a funky pattern... I know that it is supposed to be animal, but it kind or reminds me of a coral reef. You may remember the shirt from this outfit.
• Seeing about eight little stray kittens this morning, they were hanging out by the dumpster in the parking lot of my office.

awkward & awesome thursday - v.2

{Top: Express, Skirt: the Limited, Shoes: Gianni Bini}

Happy St. Pattie's Day to everyone, I am not wearing green in the above photo, {it was actually taken on Sunday!} I am a little behind on my posts.

I fell in love with this skirt when I was at the Limited a few weeks ago, the girls were actually setting up the display when I saw it on the merchandising rack. As much as I wanted it, I thought that it wouldn't be a wise purchase since its such a bold color. Then I read this post by one of my favorite bloggers, J's Everyday Fashion and was motivated to go back and try to find the skirt again.

Luckily it was on sale this time, so I not only was I able to find it in "my size" but I saved a little bit by waiting. Now... as you can see I put handy-dandy quotation marks around the words my size because I typically wear a size zero, but this skirt looks a little big on me and the other day, while in the Gap, I tried on jeans and had to go to a 00... NOW WAY! What is up with sizes being so much bigger this season. I want TRUE to size fit!

Mkay... enough complaining... on to the good stuff, Awkward and Awesome Thursday!!

Awkward

• Last Friday night I had the worst stomach ache that literally immobilized me... turns out it was most likely a "air bubble" - yes I just admitted that.
• I woke up on Sunday with what felt like a bruise on my cheek, only to get out of bed to brush my teeth and see the biggest zit ever! Thank you mud mask! That sucker got zapped.
• Vehicle maintenance - yuck, that money could have bought shoes!

Awesome

• Friday brought me some AMAZINGLY AWESOME news... hello new job!
• I had a fabulous weekend with J, him having a Saturday off was such a great surprise, I love that we got to have some fun time together and enjoy a happy little date night.
• Sunday night dinner featuring home-made "shake n' bake" and roasted potatoes, I am starting to get the hang of this cooking thing. Now I officially have 2 go-to amazing meals.
• Department store credit cards... nearly paid off! Wooooot wooot!
• Finding FabSugar and setting up a profile there, friend me there... I mean, if you want.
• Blonder... blonder... blonder!

Awkward:

• Not feeling great and having that nagging cough that just wont go away.
• My shoe breaking yesterday during a status meeting... and then me realizing it and yelling "Frick!"
• Driving in the rain on the way to work this morning... it's the worst, it makes the trip twice as long and Tampa drivers scare the crap out of me!

Awesome:

• Not feeling good and staying home in bed until 10am on a Friday {last week, of course}.
• Finding 2 thrift shops with great items and even better prices!
• Having my sweetheart tell me that my pepper-steak dinner is the best meal that he has EVER had.
• Watching Heather Morris sing/dance in Glee: Blame it on the Alcohol
• Getting my I <3 Jonathan shirt in the mail last night.
• Getting mail at all... last night was the first mail we have gotten since moving...
• Knowing that today is Thursday and that the weekend is right around the corner.
